Exploded/Non-Exploded Non-Stock Kits Usage

StarShip can import both Exploded and Non-Exploded Non-Stock Kits. Whether Non-Stock Kits are exploded or not when they are imported into StarShip is based on the StarShip setting “Explode kits items when loading documents into StarShip“. This setting is accessible from Setup > Source Interfaces > Acumatica (version) > Options.

Here are a few common scenarios to explain how shipping Exploded and Non-Exploded Non-Stock Kits works.

Non-Exploded Non-Stock Kit

This example is helpful for users who want to import a Non-Exploded Non-Stock Kit into StarShip. In this scenario, you would NOT check the “Explode Non-Stock Kit items when loading documents into StarShip” setting in StarShip because you do not want Kit items exploded.

  1. After saving the Shipment in Acumatica, import the Shipment into StarShip. The Non-Stock Kit will be imported as a line item with the same name as the Kit Line Description (from Acumatica). In the Packaging section, you can pack the Kit into a package.
  2. Once you Ship/Process the Shipment in StarShip, you can return to the Acumatica Sales Order or Shipment to view write-back.On the Packages tab, click the Refresh Packages button. StarShip writes back the package to the Packages grid, the exploded Kit to the Package Contents, and updates the Tracking Number for each package.

Exploded Non-Stock Kit

This example shows a non-packaged Non-Stock Kit from Acumatica that is exploded when imported into StarShip. In this scenario, you would check the “Explode Non-Stock kit items when loading documents in StarShip” setting in StarShip because you want StarShip to explode the Kit items so you can package them in the Shipment Editor.

  1. After saving the Shipment in Acumatica, import the Shipment into StarShip. The No-Stock Kit will be exploded into line items, which you can see in the Line Items section. Expand the Packaging section to pack the line items into packages.
  2. Once you Ship/Process the Sales Order or Shipment, you can return to Acumatica to view write-back.On the Packages tab, click the Refresh Packages button. StarShip updates the packaging, writes all line items to the Package Contents, and updates the Tracking Number for each package.
