StarShip Online Connector Installation

The StarShip Online Connector is a component of StarShip that controls the connection to source interfaces (ERP and eCommerce), the printing agent necessary for generating labels and shipping docs, and electronic scales. Please review the StarShip Online Connector requirements to make sure you have the necessary prerequisites to run the Connector.

Follow the instructions on this page to download and install the StarShip Online Connector.

Download

  1. Log in to the StarShip Subscription Management System.
  2. On the side menu, click Downloads.
  3. On the StarShip Connector page, click the download link.

Where to Install the Connector

Your printer configuration and scale locations can define where you want to install the StarShip Online Connector.

Printer configuration

Isolated Printers (most common): Install the Connector on each machine if the printers are isolated and not shared from a central server.

Shared Printers: To centralize the Connector and minimize the number of Connectors you have to maintain, you can install the Connector on one machine to act as a print server. This works if the printers are shared and the Connector Service login user has access rights to see and print to all printers.

Scales

If using scales, a Connector must be installed on each machine with scales attached.

Installation

The next step is to run the .EXE file that you downloaded to install the Connector.

After the installation is complete, please read through the StarShip Connector topic for important information about the different modes the Connector can run in and other considerations, as well as crucial information for QuickBooks Enterprise users.

  1. Navigate to the ZIP file and select to extract the files.
  2. Select a file location for the extracted installation files.
  3. Double-click the EXE file. Then, read and agree to the license agreement.
  4. On the Welcome dialog, click Next.
  5. Select the location where the Connector will be installed. You can either accept the default destination folder or click Browse to choose a different folder.
  6. Choose whether or not you want to create backup copies of any files that are replaced during the installation process. When you select Yes, you can also provide a directory for the backup files.
  7. Place a check mark next to each function the Connector will be performing on this computer. These selections can be modified later in the Connector application, which is accessible from the StarShip Online Connector program folder on the Windows Start menu.
  8. Select the Program Manager Group.
