Spee-Dee 2 Account Setup

Spee-Dee 2 stands for the NEW Spee-Dee API. The Setup and Shipping works similarly to the Spee-Dee, but rating, shipping, and getting manifest are all done via the new Spee-Dee API. It still provides small parcel shipments to Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, North and South Dakota, Nebraska, Illinois, and the St. Louis metro area, as well as select cities and ZIP Codes in Kansas, Michigan, Missouri, and Nebraska. You must set up at least one account to ship with Spee-Dee 2, the account can be the same with Spee-Dee.

Get the Subscription Key

  1. Access https://speedeeapi.developer.azure-api.net.

  1. Click “Sign up”
  2. Fill out fields and click “Sign up” (ensure your password is at least 8 characters in length)

  1. Check your email account for an email FROM: apimgmt-noreply@mail.windowsazure.com and SUBJECT: “Please confirm your new SpeeDee Delivery Service API account” and activate your account by clicking the link.

  1. The link will bring you to the login page where you need to enter your email and password and click “Sign in”.

  1. At the home page, click the “Products” link at the top of the page.

  1. Click “Unlimited” product.

  1. Put in the name of the API key star􀆟ng with your shipper number (6 digits, ex: 1001 would be 001001) followed by the name of the person requesting it and then click the “Subscribe” button.

  1. You will then see your account details page with the subscription in the “Submitted” state – an administrator will activate your account.

  1. Once you receive an email from apimgmt-noreply@mail.windowsazure.com with SUBJECT: “Your subscription to the Unlimited has been activated”, you can go back into the portal and view your profile and see the subscription and retrieve your API key.

  1. To retrieve they key, click on “Show” next to the “Primary key” and copy the key – this will be your authentication to process packages using your vendor’s software.
  1. You need to contact SpeeDee support to link your account number to the primary key or you can ask StarShip support to check on it.

Add the Account in Star Ship

The next step is to set up your Spee-Dee 2 account in Star Ship.

  1. From the Star Ship ‘Ship‘ screen, select Setup > Carrier Interfaces > Spee-Dee 2.
  1. Click the Accounts heading and select New Account.

  1. In the Account Name field, enter a unique name for this account. Then, enter your Spee-Dee 2 account number in the Account Number field.
  2. Enter the Subscription key generated from the SpeeDee developer portal.

  1. Enter the Address. You may select an Address ID to associate with this account; this is optional. If you choose to link this account with an Address ID, you can select the Spee – Dee 2 Account ID on the Ship screen > Sender section while processing a shipment. Alternatively, select Custom Address and enter the account shipping address in the fields provided. You must also enter a phone number and email address.

  1. Select Finish.
