In order for StarShip to provide certain functionality for SAP B1 HANA SL integration, such as retrieving related Sales Orders and serial/lot items, you will need to deploy the VTech Semantic Layer Model package. Please be aware that SAP B1 SL custom views are not for use with advanced features. StarShip uses custom views to get related Order, Ship To and Bill To info.
Follow the steps provided below to install it in your SAP B1 instance. The StarShip installer will provide the ZIP file needed in Step 4 of this procedure.
After installing the custom view, it may be necessary to restart the Service Layer. If you are not sure how to do this, please contact your SAP consultant.
Deploy Custom Views
- Run the SAP B1 Client.
- From the menus, select Modules > Administration > Setup > General > SAP HANA Model Management to open the Package Import window.
- Click the Import button.
- Navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\V-Technologies\StarShip\Client\SAP B1 10 HANA and select the VTechModel_(version).zip file. Click Open.
- Confirm an overwrite if the package already exists.
- Select the imported package in the upper grid and check the ‘Expose Service Layer’ check boxes in the lower grid for all the package views. Then, click Deploy and wait for the process to finalize. You can track progress in the upper grid.
Troubleshooting the error that occurs when publishing SAP B1 SL
An error occurs when publishing SAP B1 SL custom views: ‘SAP Business One versions in the package file do not correspond to current SAP Business One version. Do you want to continue?’
Solution
This message is informational and can be ignored by selecting OK if the user confirms the name of the SAP B1 SL package file corresponds with the file hosted in StarShip Online Subscription Management -> Downloads section.
