StarShip Web requires the StarShip Server and the StarShip Connector. The following sections outline system requirements for the current version of StarShip. StarShip supports both 32-bit and 64-bit operating systems.
StarShip Server
Minimum System Requirements
- Windows 7 SP1 ESU, Windows 8.1, Windows 10 (v1607 or later), Windows 11, Windows Server (v1903 or later), Windows Server 2012, Windows Server 2012 R2, Windows Server 2016, Windows Server 2019, Windows Server 2022, Windows Server Core 2012 and 2012 R2, Nano Server (v1809+)
- Pentium 4 compatible or higher (Recommended 2GHz or higher)
- 1 GB of free hard disk space
- 20 GB of free hard drive space on the computer where the StarShip database is installed
- 1 GB of RAM or higher
Prerequisite Software
StarShip will install some of the following prerequisite software (if not already installed). The StarShip Server application has the following prerequisites and the installer checks for their availability on the server.
- Internet Explorer (IE) 8 or higher
- .NET Framework 2.0; for StarShip v18.0 and higher you will need to install .NET Framework 4.6.1; for StarShip v23.0 and higher you will need to install .NET Framework 6.

StarShip Web Client
The StarShip Web Client should be installed on the same machine as the StarShip Server.
Minimum System Requirements
- Windows 8, Windows 10, Windows 11, Windows Server 2012 or Windows Server 2012R2, Windows Server 2016, Windows Server 2019, or Windows Server 2022
- Quad-core 2GHz or higher processor
- 1 GB of free hard disk space
- 4 GB of RAM or higher
Prerequisite Software
StarShip will install the following prerequisite software (if not already installed), except for the web browser. The installer checks for their availability on the server:
- Mozilla Firefox, Safari, Google Chrome, or Microsoft Edge v44.18362.267.0 or higher
- .NET Framework 4.6.1 (or higher)
- IIS (Internet Information Server)
- StarShip Connector

StarShip On-Prem Dashboard
Requirements
- Adobe Acrobat 6 or higher to print reports
- Mozilla Firefox, Safari, Google Chrome, or Microsoft Edge (we recommend using v44.18362.267.0 or higher.)
Verify Your .NET Version
To check the version of .NET you’re currently using, follow the steps below.
- Click the following link and select “Save File” or “Save”: updates.vtechnologies.com/ssfiles/18.0.0/DotNet461Check.exe
- Navigate to the location where you saved the file and double-click DotNet461Check.exe to run it.
- If no action is required, click OK to exit.
If v4.6.1 or higher is not detected, click Next to begin the installation.
V-Technologies does not recommend or support installations of StarShip, or any of its prerequisite components, on a Windows Domain Controller. V-Technologies reserves the right to deny support for issues related to a StarShip implementation on a domain controller.
For security reasons, Microsoft also recommends against installing SQL Server Express on a domain controller. See section 3.10 “Installing SQL Server Express on a Windows Domain Controller” of the SQL Express readme file.
The StarShip Server conflicts with UPS WorldShip 13.0 or earlier if loaded on the same machine. Do not install the StarShip Server on a machine that hosts UPS WorldShip 13.0 (or earlier) or its residual files.
V-Technologies does not support the installation of StarShip Server on a Terminal Server, Citrix Presentation Server, or in a Citrix load balanced environment.
