Set Up the Carrier(s)

This section includes information about setting up generic carriers for shipping. This feature can be used for your local carriers or customer-preferred carriers for which no direct rating is required through StarShip.

Set up the carrier

1. In StarShip, select Setup > Carrier Interfaces. Click the Add a Carrier button.
2. Enter the Carrier Name, SCAC code, and any other carrier information. Click the Add A Service button to add a service.
3. Enter the service information and click Save.
4. Repeat steps 2 & 3 to add all services.
5. You can also add a logo by clicking the Browse button in the Logo field if desired.
   
6. Click the Billing heading to configure billing settings.
   • Tendering Type: The choices are Call or Daily Pickup. For the Call or Daily Pickup options, you must contact the carrier directly.
   • Enable Prepaid: Check to enable a default Prepaid Billing Type.
   • Default Prepaid Billing Type: This is the default Billing Type for shipments that are paid for by the shipper. You can select from Sender or any other 3PL that you set up in Maintain > 3PL. These settings affect the options available for Billing in the Transportation section of the Shipment Editor.

     

7. Click Save to save the carrier.
