Does the Connector need to run in Desktop mode?

What are the pros and cons of having the Connector in Desktop mode vs running it as a service?

Running the StarShip Online Connector as a desktop application rather than a service removes the need to manage many Windows user permissions required for the connector service to run correctly. We recommend running connectors used for Printing traffic as a Desktop application for this reason.
